Show #2 - Discoverability

PowerShell is the most discoverable command line I’m aware of.  Discoverability in PowerShell means that there is a way to examine the data and methods of objects on the command line.

In this episode, I take a look at Get-Member, which allows you to inspect the properties and methods of the objects that are available from the PowerShell commandline.

Feedback is always appreciated, so please post a comment, send me an email, or find me in the PowerShell IRC chatroom (#powershell on irc.freenode.net).

  2. Hey, great show. I’ve been meaning to get into powershell for a while, so this is perfect. Thanks.

  3. Great shows Steve. I look forward to seeing more of them (hopefully more frequently time permitting).

I’m trying to learn as much as I can and the more of the surface I scratch, the more powerful powershell appears to be.

  4. Matt, Dave, and Bob,

Thanks for the feedback. There is another show in the works, so stay tuned!

  5. Keep ‘em coming…

The first two have been great - even though I’ve been working with PS for a good while now, these first two shows still taught me a few things - especially Show 2 where I enjoyed the fact you went reasonably in depth (for a non-developer) into the make up and way it’s all structured.

A continued focus on the detail and .NET foundations of PS will definitely be appreciated by me in future shows.

I’ve also been listening to Jon & Hal on PowerScripting.Net and thought you may overlap, but your style is quite complimentary to theirs - especially with the screencast which works really well (even though you’re still learning!) - I’ll certainly be keeping up with both your efforts in the future.

Thanks for all the time you must invest in this - much appreciated.
