About
Welcome to PowerShell Basics. This site is meant to provide resources to people interested in using PowerShell.
Monthly (more frequently if my schedule allows) screencasts will be posted (and be available via RSS). These screencasts will cover topics like:
- Installing PowerShell
- Exploring the Command Line
- Profiles
- Exploring Providers (like the file system, registry, etc..)
- Cmdlets
- Writing functions and scripts
- And other topics as they come up…
A bit about me…
My name is Steven Murawski, and I’m an IT Specialist for a municipal police department in Wisconsin. Since I’m a one man IT department, I’ve always been a quick adopter of new, hopefully more efficient technology.
PowerShell came up on my radar just as I was looking for something to add power and capability to my command line. I was looking at Cygwin and Python as alternatives, especially since IronPython had access to .NET.
After learning a bit about PowerShell, I realized this was the admin tool I needed. I was pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of the community that has grown around PowerShell. I have become a frequent visitor to the #powershell chat room on Freenode.net and participate regularly in the forums at the PowerShell Community site. I am currently the maintainer of the PowerShell Community Blog OPML.
I’m also a co-host of Mind of Root (a weekly audio podcast about systems administration, tech news, and topics). I’m always open to feedback - positive and negative, as long as it is constructive.
Thanks for stopping by!
